A family sauce recipe from my great grandmother from Italy.

Ingredients
- 6 cans (28 oz) Whole Tomatoes
- 6 cans (12 oz) Tomatoe paste
- 6 Bay Leaves
- 6 Whole Cloves
- Salt
- Pepper
- Pinch of Red Pepper Flakes
- Italian Seasoning
- 1 Large Spanish Onion
- 1 Bulb Garlic
- Pinch of Sugar
Directions
- Puree the 6 cans of whole tomatoes in a blender and put in stock pot. Start heating the pot to bring to a simmer.
- Add water to thin out the sauce to help prevent sticking.
- Mince the onion and garlic and add to sauce, add in bay leaves and cloves.
- Sprinkles seasoning across the top of the sauce, add salt and pepper on top then stir in.
- Add any meats to the sauce (sausage and meatballs) as well the oils and juices from them.
- Boil for an hour, then remove meats.
- Add tomato paste, cook for another hour stirring constantly. Don’t scrape the bottom.
- If desired, add meats back in, shut off stove and serve with pasta.
