Strawberry spinach is a european heirloom plan that produces beautiful red fruit. These fruits are edible and can be used for red dye. The plant grows low to the ground and produces many leaves. These leaves are edible and tastes similar to spinach. Once the plant becomes more established it will shoot up stalks from the center. These stalks will eventually flower and produce berries.
Characteristics
The plant does well in full sun, but intense heat will kill the plant. It is somewhat drought tolerant as well, and can grow in most soils.
